The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research condemns the Israeli occupation’s continued systematic aggression against Palestinian people in West Bank and Gaza Strip, which caused the loss of hundreds of martyrs, including students and employees in Higher Education Institutions. It also stresses that what is done by the occupation is a flagrant violation of all international conventions, laws and norms that criminalize attacks on the sanctity of educational institutions, students, and employees.
The Ministry reaffirms that the occupation's continued aggression against our people in all governorates, especially the southern governorates, has affected dozens of students and employees in Higher Education Institutions with killing, wounding and arrest.
In the same context, “the Ministry” denounces the direct bombing attacks of the buildings and facilities of the Islamic and Al-Azhar Universities in Gaza Strip. This in turn caused serious damage to the infrastructure of the two universities.
The Ministry calls all international humanitarian and legal institutions, organizations, and bodies to assume their own responsibilities, to intervene immediately and urgently, to reduce the occupation’s racist policies, and to stand up in the face of the occupation’s arbitrary, dangerous, and continued attacks against Higher Education Institutions and the Palestinian people as a whole, and to work hard for the protection of the students and employees of educational institutions from such attacks. This is to ensure the right of education in a safe environment for Palestinian students.
